THE POWERGLIDE + ASTORIA WHISKEY SMASH
See what I did there? “Smash” means “fuck.” It comes from AAVE like 20 years ago.
· 2 oz. (60 ml) American whiskey
o I used Rittenhouse 100 proof bottled-in-bond
· ¾ oz. (22 ml) simple syrup
· 3 lemon wedges
· 4-6 mint leaves
o Muddle lemon wedges in a shaker
o Add remaining ingredients
o Shake with ice
o Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice
o Garnish with a mint sprig
This is my new midday go-to, having replaced the daiquiri. As is probably obvious it is a bracing, minty adult lemonade.
