We have several BUAD cocktails coming up on our next couple episodes, boys. This one comes from our friend Chandler. This is a South American cocktail called:
THE PISCO SOUR
Pisco is an unaged brandy, primarily from Peru and Chile. This cocktail is a classic sour, created sometime between 1915 and 1925, generally attributed to Victor Morris, an American bartender working in Lima, Peru at the time. I can just feel our Chilean listeners throwing their phones out of the car at that assertion. For this cocktail you will need:
2 oz. (60 ml) pisco
1 oz. (30 ml) simple syrup
¾ oz. (22 ml) lime juice
1 egg white
Add all ingredients into a shaker and dry-shake for 10 seconds.
Add ice to shaker and, you know, shake
Strain into a rocks glass
A coupe or Nick and Nora glass would also work
Garnish with several drops of Angostura bitters
I love a sour. It’s such a versatile style of cocktail. It’s a Mr. Potato Head drink. 2 parts booze, 1 part sweet, 1 part citrus. Pretty much any liquor works in sour form. Maybe I’ll try the Malort in sour form at some point. So thank you, Chandler, for buying us a drink.
