Good news, everyone! We have a special cocktail on this episode, one from our friend and patron, Chandler, as part of our BUY US A DRINK program. He was watching a documentary about Singapore and thought, by Jove, maybe Ryan could make a Cybertronian version of a Singapore Sling! This is a pre-Prohibition cocktail created in the early 20th century at Long Bar in the Raffles hotel in Singapore, credited to bartender Ngiam Tong Boon. I did play around with some of the ratios, and some recipes call for club soda, but I have eschewed that for a heavier pour, because this version is:

CYBERTRON’S LAND OF THE METAL MOON SLING

Though, as we know from just revisiting the movie, Cybertron is a duo of moons lighter these days.

·         1 ½ oz. (45 ml) gin

·         ¼ oz. (7 ml) Grand Marnier (you can sub Cointreau or triple sec)

·         ¼ oz. Benedictine

·         ½ oz. (15 ml) cherry liqueur

·         2 oz. (60 ml) pineapple juice

·         ½ oz. lime juice

·         ½ oz. grenadine

o   Use your own, or one with pomegranate as the first ingredient, otherwise leave it out; the other stuff makes this way too sweet

·         Dash of Angostura

o   Shake all ingredients and strain into a highball over fresh ice.

o   Garnish with a pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry

If you want a lighter version you can cut the pineapple juice in half, and fill with a few ounces of club soda, which is more traditional.

In the next 3 months we have I believe 4 more cocktails from people that have BOUGHT US A DRINK. I’m basically going in the order I’ve received them, with some cocktails of my own choosing in between depending on the episode. But they are all scheduled.

This intro was one of the greats. And the show was good, too.

It’s an entertaining movie with a lot of great actors, but it’s so ludicrous with the “facts” it’s basically JFK fan fiction.
