MAI TAI
· 2 oz. (60ml) rum
· 1 oz. (30 ml) lime juice
· ¾ oz. (22 ml) orgeat syrup
· ½ oz (15 ml) triple sec
Shake with ice and open pour into a fun glass (double-rocks or highball works)
Garnish with lime and mint
NOTES:
o Equal parts Jamaican and molasses rum are recommended, but whatever you have on hand will work
§ I used Kirk and Sweeney Reserva, a Dominican rum
o Orgeat syrup is an almond-based sweet syrup pretty essential to this and many tiki drinks – there really isn’t a good substitute
o I used triple sec because that’s what I had; if you use actual dry curacao you might want to add ¼ oz. simple syrup, because curacao is not nearly as sweet as triple sec
